UEFA Executive Committee Selects Germany for 17th Edition of European Championship

Country to Stage Event for First Time Since 2006

Germany has been selected to host UEFA Euro 2024, marking the country's first time hosting the tournament since 2006. The decision was made at a UEFA Executive Committee meeting in Munich, where Germany was chosen over rival bid from Turkey.

Germany will be the 17th host nation of the UEFA European Championship, which was first held in 1960. The tournament will be held from June 14 to July 14, 2024, and will feature 24 teams competing in 51 matches at 10 venues across the country.

The German Football Association (DFB) has already begun planning for the tournament, and has appointed former Germany international Philipp Lahm as tournament director. Lahm, who captained Germany to victory at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, will be responsible for the overall organization and delivery of the event.

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin expressed his confidence in Germany's ability to host a successful tournament.

"Germany has a proven track record of hosting major football events, and we are confident that they will deliver a spectacular Euro 2024," Ceferin said.

German Football Association President Bernd Neuendorf said that his country was "honored and proud" to be selected as the host of Euro 2024.

"We are looking forward to welcoming the world to Germany in 2024 and showcasing our country's passion for football," Neuendorf said.
