Barcelona thump Real Betis 5-0 to maintain unbeaten start
Catalan giants record biggest La Liga win since 2021
Barcelona extended their unbeaten start to the season with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Real Betis at the Benito Villamarin on Saturday.
The win was Barcelona's biggest in La Liga since a 6-1 away win at Real Sociedad on 21 March 2021, and it moved them to the top of the table, two points ahead of Real Madrid.
Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring for Barcelona in the 22nd minute with a fine individual effort, before Robert Lewandowski doubled the lead just five minutes later.
Pedri made it 3-0 in the 35th minute with a stunning long-range effort, and Ansu Fati added a fourth in the 55th minute.
Lewandowski then completed the rout in the 65th minute with his second goal of the game.
The win was Barcelona's fourth in a row in La Liga this season, and it extended their unbeaten run to five games in all competitions.
Real Betis, meanwhile, have now lost two of their last three La Liga games, and they have slipped to fifth in the table.
